Global Talent Meets Innovation: HKSTP and University of Newcastle, Australia Continue Research Partnership
(Hong Kong, 1 June 2026) — Marking the second year of successful collaboration, HKSTP is pleased to continue its partnership with the University of Newcastle, Australia, through the HKSTP Industry Research Projects initiative. This initiative bridges global talent with Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem, focusing on practical experiential project-based collaboration with HKSTP startups.
This summer, a total of 16 students are collaborating with the following five startup companies to tackle real business and technology challenges.
- Alpha Energy IoT Limited
- ATech Solution Limited
- EzyGreenPak Limited
- Medmind Technology Limited
- Springback Wellness Limited
The programme delivered substantial value for both startups and student participants. Participating startups highlighted the value of working with student teams to better understand the Australian market landscape. The collaboration provided fresh perspectives on customer needs, market opportunities, and overseas expansion planning, helping startups prepare for future growth beyond Hong Kong.
For students, the programme offered a unique opportunity to work directly alongside startup founders, tackling real-world business challenges in a fast-paced innovation environment. Students gained hands-on experience, developed new professional and problem-solving skills, and deepened their understanding of entrepreneurship, innovation, and cross-cultural business practices. Many also shared that the experience broadened their perspectives, strengthened their confidence, and inspired greater curiosity about the global startup ecosystem.
As part of their Hong Kong immersion, a day trip to Shenzhen was arranged for the Australian students to give them first-hand insight into the broader innovation and technology ecosystem across the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
